Walking unicorn fortune: the story of Uvodo

Uvodo story

Uvodo’s journey began after our previous startup Nextsale exited.

Our experiences at Nextsale helped us identify a new opportunity in the eCommerce industry, which led us to start Uvodo

With our team’s combined knowledge and expertise in the industry, we set out to create a platform that would make it easy for businesses to start and grow their online stores.

To provide some context, let’s go back to 2018 when we started Nextsale and how the idea of Uvodo emerged.

Uvodo was preceded by our earlier startup: Nextsale

Nextsale is an app for Shopify, BigCommerce, and WooCommerce that helps merchants increase their sales using various marketing and conversion optimization tools

While working in the eCommerce ecosystem for more than a decade, our founders found out that conversion optimization was painful for merchants. That was the main trigger on how they come up with the idea to build Nextsale.

During our Nextsale journey, we dived into the principles of conversion optimization, on-site marketing, and buyer behavior. We spoke with thousands of merchants, solved numerous problems, and built strong relationships. After 3 years of development, we decided to open a new chapter for Nextsale’s development. Nextsale had a successful exit at the end of 2021.

The idea of Uvodo

Our time at Nextsale was instrumental in guiding us towards a new opportunity in the eCommerce market, which eventually led to the birth of Uvodo.

At Nextsale, our customer success, Orkhan would talk to merchants continuously. We saw that not everyone is happy with their current eCommerce platform. Based on ~2,000 interactions with eCommerce business owners, we saw the pain points experienced by online merchants commonly include limited customization, high commissions, transaction fees, paid features and sluggish conversion tools.

With our domain expertise from the previous eCommerce projects, relying on our knowledge of conversion optimization, and knowing what it takes to make merchants happy, the idea clicked: why not make an eCommerce platform that makes merchants happy and help them sell?

Uvodo rising

We launched Uvodo’s MVP in January 2022. It was built as a self-hosted & headless eCommerce platform at first. With the same convention, from the day of launch, Orkhan was talking to Uvodo’s early customers. We also made a public feature request platform for our customers and created our community. We’ve grown our community to 300 developers and merchants, and got 100+ unique feature requests with a total of 300+ votes just in 2 months.

Uvodo’s SaaS version was a highly requested feature, and after considering customer feedback, it became clear that this was a top priority for many of our users.

Back to the future: absolutely free eCommerce platform

Voilà!

Uvodo is now a SaaS-based eCommerce platform that is completely free of commissions or transaction fees and offers unlimited features.

At Nextsale, we knew that many eCommerce platforms have weak and pricey conversion optimization tools. Together, our team works tirelessly to bring new features to life and ensure their successful implementations. At Uvodo, we include free conversion apps that are developed and tested by our developers to ensure the highest quality and security.

Uvodo enables sellers to easily create a free online store with just a few clicks and start selling their products without the need for a credit card.

If before we were helping merchants to increase their sales on the eCommerce platform they’re using, now we’ve built a conversion-focused eCommerce platform.

A wonderful team & expertise

At Uvodo, it’s the same core team of Nextsale with the same mindset that has a mission to continue to deliver real value to the eCommerce ecosystem.

Our founders share a longstanding friendship that began in their school days and has continued throughout the years. This bond has been instrumental in driving the success of both of our startups, as they have positively influenced each other’s journeys.

In addition to our experience and dedication, Uvodo has also been recognized and supported by various industry programs and accelerators.

We are proud to have passed the rigorous selection process for the NCA, SUP, and 500 Startups accelerator programs. These programs gave us access to world-class mentors, investors, and resources that helped us refine our product, scale our team and accelerate our growth.

Overall, the story of Uvodo is one of a team that is passionate about helping businesses succeed in the eCommerce industry. Our mission and vision reflect our passion for helping businesses succeed in the eCommerce industry. We believe that our success is directly tied to the success of our users, and we are dedicated to providing the solutions and neverending support they need to achieve their goals.

From humble beginnings to a thriving online presence, this was a tale of entrepreneurship, innovation, and the power of determination.
